Singapore, 11th May 2022 — Patrick Kim, Uppsala Security’s Founder & CEO, attended and conducted a panel during the ‘Travel Rule Solution 2022’ Webinar hosted by IT Chosun and Uppsala Security. The webinar covered the overall issues directly related to the Travel Rule, including the current status, challenges and solutions. These topics are also covered within the Compass Protocol service, the second blockchain project created by Uppsala Security.

Compass Protocol is a service built to solve the Web3 digital identity challenges and KYC/authentication requirements, including solutions to Money Laundering problems for personal wallets. Through the appropriate KYC and AML certification provided by Compass Protocol, users can easily be part of the blockchain ecosystem while proving both their identity and the legality of their funds.

The Travel Rule is a highly challenging regulation aimed at Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASPs), as it requires these providers to collect and share customer data for transactions over a certain threshold.

The Travel Rule was initiated by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), an independent inter-governmental body that develops and promotes policies to protect the global financial system against Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing.

Despite the challenging nature of these new regulations set around crypto and virtual assets, we are proud to share that we created a complex product suite that can help VASPs meet these requirements, including the ones included in the Travel Rule, in a simple and stress-free manner.
