2 March, 2021 Uppsala Security, a state-of-the-art provider of award-winning tools for Crypto AML, Risk Management, Regulatory Compliance, and Cybersecurity announced today the signing of a contract with Korea’s leading blockchain media platform, CoinDesk Korea, to launch the ‘Cryptocurrency Crime Report Center’. The service will commence on Tuesday, March 2nd 2021.

The initiative of operating the joint ‘Cryptocurrency Crime Report Center’ emerged based on the experience of both parties and from various reasons that were closely monitored in the recent years in the decentralized space.

While cryptocurrency related crimes such as voice phishing, ransomware, or instances similar to the Nth room are rampant, various cases such as hacking cryptocurrency exchanges and insider fraud have also been continuously reported. In response, CoinDesk Korea and Uppsala Security decided to operate the ‘Cryptocurrency Crime Report Center’ to support the investigation and recovery of the losses experienced by the victims of cryptocurrency crimes. The exact steps of the ‘Cryptocurrency Crime Report Center’ process are as follows:

1. Reporting and filing: The victims of cryptocurrency crimes file a report at CoinDesk Korea’s Cryptocurrency Crime Report Center.

2. Signing a Service Agreement: After confirming the receipt of the report, a Service Agreement has to be signed in order to obtain Uppsala Security’s tracking report, which has legal effect in tracking cryptocurrencies and can be submitted to judicial authorities.

3. Receiving the Report : When a tracking report is issued for a filed case, the victim himself/herself can report the case to the police and submit the report as evidence. The Uppsala Security’s tracking report is a legally valid evidence that can help police investigate the exact extent of the damage and the current flow of funds at the time of the investigation.

*If victims want to file a lawsuit against a judicial agency, recover the lost funds or compensate for damages, a legal service provided by Barun, a law firm (limited) company, is available as an option.

*Cryptocurrency Crime Report Center is currently only available in South Korea. In order to stay up to date regarding the extension of this service, please follow us on our social channels listed below.
